The film will also star Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg, and McKay will direct the movie as well as co-write the script with Chris Henchy (who is married to Brooke Shields). Henchy is the screenwriter of Ferrell's next film Land of the Lost, which will hit cinemas in June 2009.

Ferrell and McKay have previously collaborated on such films as Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, Step Brothers, and Anchorman.
