Among the highlights is the New York premiere of John Adams' oratorio, The Gospel According to the Other Mary (March 27), which features a libretto by Peter Sellars, who will also direct. Gustavo Dudamel will conduct the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
Simon Keenlyside will play the title role in an opera concert of Alban Berg's Wozzeck (November 18), featuring the Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen. German soprano Angela Denoke will play the title character's wife, Marie.
The October 19 opening concert of the season will be a performance of two rarely-heard sacred motets by French Baroque composer Marc-Antoine Charpentier: The Prodigal Son and Cecilia, Virgin and Martyr, performed by Les Arts Florissants led by William Christie.
