Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein joined Deputy Mayor for Economic Development Robert Steel, NYC & Company CEO George Fertitta, and chef David Burke on Monday, January 10 at the R Lounge at the Renaissance New York Hotel Times Square to announce “Broadway Week,” a special promotion to run January 24-February 10, during which 18 Broadway shows will offer 2-for-1 tickets.

“Broadway brings more money into New York than all of our sports teams put together,” said Fierstein, who will join the company of La Cage Aux Folles on February 15. “Broadway means New York. Who can resist a half-price sale? Hopefully not New Yorkers or visitors to New York. If you haven’t seen a Broadway show, you haven’t seen New York.”

The promotion is part of NYC & Company’s “Get More NYC” initiative, which is designed to boost tourism and spending in New York City. The initiative also includes the popular “Restaurant Week,” which will return January 24-February 6, during which dozens of restaurants offer specially-priced prix-fixe menus.
