Broadway Veteran Jay Garner Dies at 82

Broadway veteran Jay Garner died in New York City from causes relating to pneumonia on January 21, according to published reports. He was 82.

The actor originated several roles on Broadway, including the part of Edouard Dindon in La Cage aux Folles. His final Broadway appearance was as Horace Vandergelder in the 1995 revival of Hello, Dolly! Among his other Main Stem credits were The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Me and My Girl, 1776, and Goodtime Charley. His Hollywood credits included the TV series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century and the film Pennies from Heaven.

Garner has no immediate survivors.
