Lucie Arnaz, Michael Feinstein, Capathia Jenkins Set for Standard Time Salute to Johnny Mercer
Singers Lucie Arnaz and Capathia Jenkins and pianists Ron Abel and Andy Ezrin will join Standard Time artistic director Michael Feinstein for Johnny Mercer: Our Huckleberry Friend, A Centennial Celebration at Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall at 7:30pm on Wednesday, February 18.
Mercer, who died in 1976, wrote the lyrics to numerous Broadway shows, including St. Louis Woman, L’il Abner, and Saratoga; and a revue based on his songs, Dream, played Broadway in 1997. He also wrote numerous popular standards and Oscar-winning songs, including “Skylark,” “Stardust,” and “Moon River.”
