Tony Bennett, Tyne Daly, and Capathia Jenkins have been added to the American Songbook 50th anniversary celebration for the Academy Award-winning songwriters Alan and Marilyn Bergman, to be held at 8:30pm on Friday, February 2 at the Allen Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

As previously reported, the concert will also feature performances by Melissa Errico, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Nicki Richards, Sandy Stewart, Lari White, and Lillias White. Billy Stritch will serve as musical director. Victoria Clark and Jessica Molaskey, both of whom were previously announced for the show, have withdrawn due to scheduling conflicts.

The Bergmans are responsible for the lyrics to such hit songs as “The Way We Were,” “The Windmills of Your Mind,” “The Way He Makes Me Feel,” “Ordinary Miracles,” and many more. They also co-wrote the Broadway musical Ballroom, which starred Dorothy Loudon.

Bennett is one of the world’s greatest singers, whose latest CD is the highly successful Duets. Daly won a Tony Award for Gypsy and was most recently seen on Broadway in Rabbit Hole; she is known for her Emmy Award-winning work on Cagney & Lacey and Judging Amy. Jenkins recently starred on Broadway in Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me and will soon be seen Off-Broadway as Oscar winner Hattie McDaniel in the Emerging Artist Theatre’s production of (mis)Understanding Mammy.
