Long Live Liza

By David Marcus • Dec 31, 1969 • New York City
On Monday, January 31, The Drama League will celebrate the career of legendary entertainer Liza Minnelli. The celebrated star has been the recipient of the Tony, Emmy and Academy Awards for her indelible work in TV/film and on stage. The fete will feature original music and lyrics by longtime Minnelli friends John Kander and Fred Ebb, who also serve as honorary co-chairmen of the gala. Kander and Ebb composed some of Minelli's most successful vehicles, including Cabaret, The Act and Liza with a Z. The celebration will also support the Drama League's Directors Project. Since 1917, the success of this nonprofit group has been derived from its loyal dedication to promoting the interest of audience and artists for the theatre. The event will take place at The Pierre Hotel, located at 2 East 61st Street. Tickets are $400 to $875 and can be reserved by calling 212-302-2100.
