Academy Award winner Olympia Dukakis will star alongside stage veterans Sebastian Arcelus, Jenny Bacon, and more in Midtown Direct Rep's one-night-only reading of Peter M. Floyd's drama Absence. Set to take place on Sunday, January 5, at the South Orange Performing Arts Center, the evening will be staged by Margaret Whitton.

In Absence, Dukakis plays Helen, a woman suffering from memory loss who struggles to find meaning in her new life as her sense of self dissolves. Emily Bauer, Stephanie Kurtzuba, Kendra Jain, and Dan Ziskie will join the cast.

Absence is presented as part of Midtown Direct Rep's Theatre in the Loft series and is the recipient of the 2012 Jean Kennedy Smith Award.
