Taylor Mac Wins McKnight National Residency and Commission

The Playwrights Center in Minneapolis has awarded the McKnight National Residency and Commission to Obie Award-winning writer and performer Taylor Mac. He will receive a $12,500 commission plus additional funds for development of a new play and residency at the Center.

The Center also awarded $25,000 Advancement Grants to locally-based playwrights Mat Smart and Deborah Stein, each of whom will also receive $2,000 for artistic expenses.

In addition, Anne Enneking, Masanari Kawahara, and Robert Rosen were each given McKnight Theater Artist Fellowships, which come with grants of $25,000 and $1,000 in artistic support.

Mac is best known for his shows The Lily’s Revenge, The Young Ladies Of, and The Be(a)st of Taylor Mac.
