Marvin Hamlisch to Become Pasadena Pops’ Principal Conductor

Marvin Hamlisch will assume the role of principal conductor for the Pasadena Pops beginning in 2011, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times. He is scheduled to lead three concerts in the summer of 2011 at the company’s new home at the Rose Bowl.

Hamlisch won the Tony for his music for A Chorus Line and has scored such movies as The Way We Were and The Sting. His numerous awards also include three Oscars, four Grammys, four Emmys, and three Golden Globes. He also holds the position of principal pops conductor for the National Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Symphony, and San Diego Symphony.
