Rufus Sewell has joined the cast of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, according to a report in Variety. Timur Bekmambetov will direct and co-produce the picture with Tim Burton and Jim Lemley.

Adapted by Seth Graham-Smith from his novel, the film is about Lincoln battling the undead during the Civil War era. Sewell will play the role of Adam, the lead vampire villain. As previously reported, the movie will star Benjamin Walker as Lincoln and Dominic Cooper as Henry Sturges, who mentors Lincoln in vampire hunting, as well as Broadway veterans Anthony Mackie and Alan Tudyk.

Sewell starred on Broadway in Tom Stoppard’s Rock n’ Roll, for which he received a Tony Award nomination. In addition, he starred on the recent CBS series The Eleventh Hour and is slated to co-star in the miniseries Pillars of the Earth.
