Mary Louise Parker, James Woods Set for Jamesy Boy Movie

Mary Louise Parker and James Woods have been cast in the independent film Jamesy Boy, according to The Hollywood Reporter Trevor White will direct the project, which is using a script he co-wrote with Lane Shandgett.

Inspired by actual events, the movie will focus on a young man (to be played by Spencer LoFranco), who after a life as a member of a suburban street gang, finds himself in a maximum-security prison surrounded by hardened criminals. Woods will play an authority figure at a detention center while Parker will play the boy’s mother. Ving Rhames will also be featured as a convicted murder who befriends the young man.

Parker won a Tony Award for her performance in Proof and received Tony nominations for Reckless, and Prelude to a Kiss. In addition, she won Emmy and Golden Globe Awards for her performance in Mike Nichols’ television adaptation of Angels in America. She has also won a Golden Globe for her work on Weeds. Among her other film and television credits are Bullets Over Broadway, Fried Green Tomatoes, and West Wing.


Woods’ Broadway credits include Borstal Boy, and The Trial of the Cantonsville Nine, as well as Moonchildren, for which he won a Theatre World Award. He received Academy Award nominations for his performances in Ghosts of the Mississippi and Salvador, and won Emmy Awards for his work My Name Is Bill W. and Promise (#36.1).
