Lea Michele (Glee), William H. Macy (Shameless), and model Kate Upton will team up to star in Macy's new road trip sex comedy film The Layover, Unified Pictures and Bron Studios have announced.

Written by It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia scribes David Hornsby and Lance Krall, Macy will direct the movie, for which no release date has yet been set. Michele and Upton will play a pair of lifelong friends who avoid their problems by hopping on a plane for a vacation, only to find that it's been rerouted because of a hurricane. To make matters worse, they find themselves in a battle over the same guy during a layover in St. Louis.

"The minute I met Lea and Kate, the film began to focus for me," Macy said in a statement. "They are singular, ambitious funny women in full. This is going to be fun."

Macy's Broadway credits include Speed-the-Plow and Our Town. Michele, who appeared on Broadway in Spring Awakening and Ragtime, is currently shooting the new television series Scream Queens. Upton recently appeared in the film The Other Woman.
