Luis Alfaro, Jordan Harrison, et al. to Premiere New Works at Theatre @ Boston Court

The Theatre @ Boston Court has announced its 2010 season, which will feature a quartet of world premieres.

The year will begin with Luis Alfaro’s Oedipus El Rey (February 27-March 28), a reimagining of Sophocles’ Oedipus Rex, set in the barrio of East LA. The play will be directed by Jon Lawrence Rivera. Tom Jacobson’s The Twentieth Century Way (May 8-June 6) focuses on the ways in which homosexuals were entrapped for “social vagrancy” in public restrooms in Long Beach at the turn of the last century.

The Good Book of Pedantry and Wonder (July 31-August 29), by Moby Pomerance and co-produced with Circle X Theatre Company, will be directed by John Langs and centers on James Murray’s work to create the Oxford English Dictionary in the late nineteenth century. Jordan Harrison’s Futura (October 9-November 7) will be directed by Jessica Kubzansky. The play is a mystery that unfolds in a not-too-distant future when the idea of writing words on paper is history.
