Debbie Allen will direct and choreograph the Los Angeles premiere of her dance driven musical, OMAN…O Man!, at the Royce Hall, UCLA on December 11 and 12.

Commissioned by the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C., and featuring an original score by Grammy and Emmy award winning composer Arturo Sandoval, the piece attempts to narrow the gulf between Muslim and Christian culture. At the center of the work are two young men — one Omani, another American — who are roommates at a military academy.

Allen directed the Broadway revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and is repeating those duties for the production’s West End premiere that begins next month. She is well known as a choreographer for stage, film, and television, having won many awards for her work. As an actress, she is also a two-time Tony Award nominee for West Side Story and Sweet Charity, and appears in both the original 1980 film of Fame and the new 2009 remake.

Tickets $13 -$43. For more information, visit www.debbieallendanceacademy.com.
