Broadway veteran and music superstar Usher has received five nominations for this year's The Soul Train Awards – the most of any performer – which will be taped on November 8 at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas and air on November 25 on BET and Centric, according to The Associated Press.

Cedric the Entertainer, who starred on Broadway in the revival of David Mamet's American Buffalo, will host the ceremony.

Among the many other nominees are Estelle, Nas, Trey Songz, John Legend, and the late singers Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse. In addition, New Edition will receive a lifetime achievement award.

Usher played Billy Flynn in the still-running revival of Chicago, and made a guest appearance in Broadway's Fuerza Bruta. He will appear next year as a coach on NBC's hit reality series The Voice.
