Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman to Pen Song for Emmy Host Neil Patrick Harris

Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman are writing a special number for Neil Patrick Harris to perform at this year’s Emmy Awards, according to Variety. The ceremony will be held on September 20 at the Nokia Theater. Shaiman and Wittman provided the song that Harris performed earlier this year on the Tony Awards.
In addition to this original Emmy-themed number, the awards ceremony will feature live music performed by an all-star band. Steve Jordan and David Paich will serve as co-musical directors of the 17-piece ensemble, which will feature guitarists Dean Parks and Ray Parker Jr., keyboardist Michael Bearden, saxophonist Tom Scott, bassist Darryl Jones, and percussionist Lenny Castro.
