Diahann Carroll, Obba Babatunde to Be Honored at NAACP Theatre Awards

The NAACP Theatre Awards will honor Diahann Carroll with a Lifetime Achievement award, Obba Babatunde with the Trailblazer Award, and Pamela Browner-White with the President’s Award at its 21st annual ceremony, to be held at the Director’s Guild of America in Los Angeles on August 29 at 7pm.

Scheduled presenters at the event include Vanessa Williams, Margaret Avery, Courtney Vance, Harry Lennix, Keith Robinson, Quinton Aaron, Laz Alonso, Meagan Good, Romeo Miller, Pat Prescott, Tatyana Ali, Hosea Chanchez, Jill Marie Jones, Brian White, Brandon T. Jackson, Stacey Dash, Pooch Hall, Ray J. Norwood, Journey Smollett, and Hakeem Kae-Kazim.

Carroll won a Tony for No Strings and is also a Golden Globe winner, and Emmy, Grammy and Oscar nominee. Babatunde was Tony-nominated for Dreamgirls, and was recently seen in the world-premiere musical Sammy. Browner-White is Chairperson of the Marian Anderson Foundation.
