Kara Dioguardi, Neil Patrick Harris, Adam Shankman to Judge The Search for Cinderella

Kara Dioguardi, Neil Patrick Harris, and Adam Shankman will serve as guest judges for The Search for Cinderella, to be held at Westfield Malls, on July 7, 9, and 14.

The winner of the contest will star as Cinderella in a modern musical version of the classic story in the style of a traditional London panto, which will play the El Portal Theatre, November 27-December 19. The show will be produced and directed by The Lythgoe Family. It will feature special choreography by Dancing With the Stars star Derek Hough, with magic tricks designed by Ed Alonzo.

Shankman, who directed the film version of Hairspray and is also a judge on So You Think You Can Dance, will judge the open call and audition at the Westfield Topanga on July 7. DioGuardi, a singer/songwriter and judge on American Idol, will oversee the one at the Westfield Santa Anita on July 9. Stage and screen star Harris, who stars on the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother, will judge Cinderella hopefuls at Westfield Culver City on July 14.

Registration for all dates begins at 9am, with auditions starting at 10am. To participate, a person must be 16-26 years old at the time of the audition, and will be expected to sing one song to the designated celebrity judge, who is the only one who can put that person’s name through to call backs in September.
