Academy and Tony Award winner Al Pacino‘s Wilde Salome will premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, according to a report on Deadline.com. The film is scheduled for a screening on September 4, the day on which the Academy, Tony and Emmy Award-winning actor is slated to receive the Jaeger-Le Coultre Glory to the Filmmaker 2011 Award.

Wilde Salome, which Pacino has directed, explores his passion for the Oscar Wilde play Salome, in which he appeared in 2003 on Broadway. In addition to Pacino (as Herod), the movie features Jessica Chastain in the title role and Kevin Anderson as John the Baptist. It is scheduled for a fall release.

Pacino has received a Tony Award nomination for his portrayal of Shylock in The Merchant of Venice this past season and won Tony Awards for his work in Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie? and The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel.

He is an eight-time Oscar nominee, winning for Scent of a Woman. His many films include The Godfather trilogy, Dog Day Afternoon, Glengarry Glen Ross, and Frankie and Johnny, and he won the Emmy Award for his portrayal of Roy Cohn in HBO’s miniseries version of Angels in America.
