Placido Domingo, Ana Maria Martinez Set for LA Opera’s Simon Boccanegra

Plácido Domingo will play the title role in LA Opera’s production of Giuseppe Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra, to run February 11-March 4 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. The production will be directed Elijah Moshinsky and conducted by James Conlon.


The cast will also feature Ana María Martínez as Amelia, Vitalij Kowaljow as Fiesco, Paolo Gavanelli as Paolo Albiano, and Stefano Secco as Gabriele Adorno.


The production will feature sets by Michael Yeargan, costumes by Peter J. Hall., and lighting by Duane Schule .


The February 19 performance will be broadcast live on Classical KUSC 91.5fm as part of an expanded “LA Opera on Air” radio series. It will be co-hosted by Duff Murphy and Kimberlea Daggy, and also be streamed online live at www.kusc.org.
