Leslie Bricusse’s Scrooge will return to the London Palladium in October, according to WhatsOnStage.com.

Tommy Steele will star as the title role in the musical, running October 24 through January 5. Bob Tomson directs the production, which features choreography by Lisa Kent, scenic and costume desing by Paul Farnsworth, and illusions by Paul Kieve.

Based on the 1970 film version, the stage musical Scrooge tells the story of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Steele, regarded as one of England’s first rock stars, last played Scrooge at the Palladium in 2005.

Scrooge will partially bridge the gap at the Palladium between The Wizard of Oz, which is set to close on September 2, and the previously announced Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which will open in June 2013.
