Julie Dray, Tasmin Grieg, Ian McDiarmid, et al. Set for Royal Court Theatre’s Fall/Winter Season

Royal Court Theatre has announced its programming – as well as preliminary casting – for its fall/winter 2011-2012 season.

The company will produce three works in its Jerwood Theatre Downstairs space, starting with Alexi Kay Campbell’s The Faith Machine, an exploration of the battle between faith and capitalism, to run August 25 – October 1. Jamie Lloyd will direct the production, which will feature Jude Akuwudike, Hayley Atwell, Bronagh Gallagher, Ian McDiarmid, Kyle Soller and Alan Westaway. The creative team will include production designer Mark Thompson, lighting designer Neil Austin and composer and sound designer Alex Baranowski.

April de Angelis’ Jumpy, featuring Tasmin Grieg, will run October 13 – November 19. Nina Rabe will direct this play about a one-time political activist’s life as a mother. The other offerings in the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs will be Joe Penhall’s investigation about how beliefs are passed from adults to children, Haunted Child (December 2 – January 14), to be directed by Jeremy Herrin, and David Eldridge’s about a family congregating as one of its members dies, In Basildon (February 16 – March 24), to be directed by Dominic Cooke.

Royal Court Theatre programming in the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs will include debbie tucker green’s truth and reconciliation (September 1-24), which spans the countries Rwanda, Northern Ireland, Zimbabwe, and will be directed by the playwright. In addition, Max Stafford-Clark will stage Stella Feehily’s Bang Bang Bang (October 12 – November 5) about the public and private lives of humanitarian workers in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which will feature Frances Ashman, Babou Ceesay, Julie Dray, Jack Farthing, Paul Hickey, Orla Fitzgerald and Dan Fredenburgh.

A third production in this theater will be Rachel De-lahay’s play about a couple from very different backgrounds trying to navigate their relationship while racial tensions simmer around them, The Westbridge (November 25 – December 23), to be directed by Clint Dyer.
