Washington Shakespeare Company Secures Permanent Home in Rosslyn

The Washington Shakespeare Company (WSC) has plans to move into its first permanent home, according to a report in the Washington Post. The theater, which has been in operation since 1990, will begin producing in a new space located in the former Newseum building in Rosslyn, Virginia in its 2010-2011 season.

The old Newseum space is being converted into a 53,000-square-foot multi-use arts venue, and will also house Classika Theatre for young people, a restaurant, an art gallery, and more.

For 2009-2010, WSC will continue to produce at the Clark Street Playhouse in Crystal City, Virginia. The season will inculde Charles Ludlam’s Camille (August 27 – September 27), Franz Wedekind’s Lulu (November 12 – December 13), Moliere’s The Miser (January 28 – February 28), and Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur’s The Front Page.
