New Country opened on Saturday, February 27, and is now running at the Den Theatre.

Justin Spears is your typical good-ole bad boy and country music star, and tomorrow is his wedding day. Before he gets married though, he’s on one last adventure with his entourage of ruthless managers, faux fans and friends, and favorite pig-farming uncle. Things quickly spiral out of control, and the rambunctious fun quickly turns to men behaving badly and "gun totin’ chickens coming home to roost."

Ian Streicher directs the show, which was written by stand-up comic, actor, writer, and native Midwesterner Mark Roberts. The cast features Frank Nall as Paul, Will Clinger as Chuck, Colter O’Ryan Smith as Ollie, Michael Monroe Goodman as Justin, Mark Roberts as Uncle Jim, and Sarah Lemp as Sharon.

"My writing has always lent itself to Midwestern voices and sensibilities. It only makes sense that I should be generating my work here," said Roberts of his homecoming. "The talent here is something special, full of actors and artists I’ve wanted to work with for years."

The creative team includes Ellen Fred (assistant director), Kevin Hagan (set design), Frank Rose (lighting design), Rachel Lambert (costume design), Robert Hornbostel (sound engineer), Mealah Heidenreich (properties design), and Jessica Forella (stage manager).

Performances will run through May 14.
