Desmin Borges, Quentin Earl Darrington, Mary Beth Fisher, Francis Guinan, et al. Win Jeff Equity Awards

The 42nd annual Jeff Equity Awards, honoring excellence in Chicago area theater, were presented in a ceremony at Drury Lane Oakbrook on October 25.

The world premiere of The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity, produced by Victory Gardens Theater in association with Teatro Vista…Theatre With a View, received five awards, for production, playwright Kristoffer Diaz, director Edward Torres, actor Desmin Borges, and fight choreographer David Woolley.

Leading the musicals category was the Drury Lane Productions revival of Ragtime, which won for production, director Rachel Rockwell, musical director Roberta Duchak, and actors Quentin Earl Darrington, Cory Goodrich, Mark David Kaplan, and Valisia LaKae.

Mary Beth Fisher won the Solo Performance Award for The Year of Magical Thinking, while additional acting honors were bestowed upon Natasha Lowe (A Streetcar Named Desire), Francis Guinan (A Guide for the Perplexed), Natalie West (Abigail’s Party), Rob Lindley (Oh Coward!), and Kate Fry (Oh Coward!). The Steppenwolf Theatre Company cast of The Brother/Sister Plays received the award for Ensemble.
