Actor and playwright Daniel Beaty will perform his acclaimed solo show Emergency at eta Creative Arts Foundation, Monday, November 16 at 7pm.

Beaty, who will be making his Chicago performance debut, portrays a cast of over 40 characters who all respond to a stunning phenomenon: a slave ship rises out of the Hudson River in front of the Statue of Liberty.

Beaty’s play Resurrection is currently showing at eta through November 15. He will be on hand following the Sunday, November 15 matinee of that show for eta’s “Conversation with…” series. Dr. Haki Madhubuti and Beaty will discuss issues surrounding the five generations of Black men featured in Beaty’s play including the prison system, the education system, issues of health, faith, entrepreneurship, homosexuality and others.
