Mikhail Baryshnikov, Christine Ebersole, Stephen Sondheim Set for Chicago’s Harris Theater

The Harris Theater in Chicago has announced a number of special events to be part of its 2009-2010 season.

Legendary dancer and choreographer Mikhail Baryshnikov will present the Chicago premiere of his “Three solos and a duet, ” September 25-27. The program will feature Baryshnikov dancing solo and with his long-time dance partner and collaborator Ana Laguna. The all-male Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo will appear January 27, presenting their signature parodies great classical ballets.

Stephen Sondheim will be on hand for An Intimate Exchange with the “Master of the Musical” on March 4, speaking with John Calloway about the state of American musical theater and reflections on his own creative process as he celebrates his 80th birthday. An audience Q&A with Sondheim will follow. The Grammy-Award winning guitarist Sharon Isbin and virtuoso violinist Mark O’Connor will appear on March 6.

Two-time Tony Award winner Christine Ebersole will appear in An Evening of Song with Chicago’s Own Nightingale on March 25, singing Broadway show tunes and standards. Celebrated pianist Lang Lang will appear with the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra on April 11.
