Ed Dixon, Steve Kazee, Cady Huffman, and More Set for Huntington’s Pirates!

Full casting has been announced for the Huntington Theatre Company’s Pirates! (or, Gilbert and Sullivan Plunder’d), an update of Gilbert and Sullivan’s musical comedy classic by Nell Benjamin, John McDaniel, and Gordon Greenberg. Directed by Greenberg, the show will run May 15-June 14.

The action of the original tale has been transferred to the Caribbean, with Benjamin contributing to the original book and penning new lyrics for some of the classic songs to move them to the new setting.

In addition to the previously announced Ed Dixon as the Modern Major General and Tony Award winner Cady Huffman as Ruth, the cast will feature Steve Kazee as the Pirate King, Mel Johnson, Jr. as the Sergeant of Police, Anderson Davis as Frederic, Farah Alvin as Mabel, Caesar Samayoa as Samuel, and Julia Osborne as Edith.

The Ensemble will include Krista Buccellato, Wes Hart, Sam Kiernan, Douglas I. Lyons, Chris Messina, Brittney A. Morello, Michael Rossmy, Joel Perez, Dave Schoonover, Kristen Sergeant, Christopher Sergeeff, Erica Spyres, Victor J. Wisenhart, and Sarah Ziegler.

The creative team will include choreographer Denis Jones, musical director/conductor F. Wade Russo, scenic designer Rob Bissinger, costume designer David C. Woolard, lighting designer Jeff Croiter, and sound designers Drew Levy and Tony Smolenski IV.
