Sandra Piques Eddy, Judy Kaye, Stephen Salters, et al. Set for Boston Midsummer Opera Double-Bill

Boston Midsummer Opera has announced its 2010 production will be a double-bill of Leonard Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti and Lee Hoiby’s Bon Appétit!, to run July 28 – August 1 at the Tsai Performance Center at Boston University. Scott Edmiston and David Green, respectively, will direct the pieces and Susan Davenny Wyner will conduct.

Tahiti explores the malaise behind the picture-perfect facades of post-war suburbia, focusing on one married couple. The company will feature Sandra Piques Eddy, David Lara, Brian R. Robinson, Megan Roth, and Stephen Salters.

In Bon Appétit!, based on a classic episode of Julia Child’s television show, the legendary chef demonstrates the makings of a classic French chocolate cake. in her inimitable style. Tony Award winner Judy Kaye will star in the piece.

The design team for two pieces will Include Janie Howland (scenic design), Chip Schoonmaker (costume design), and Karen Perlow (lighting desgin).
