Merrimack Repertory Announces 2008-2009 Season

Merrimack Repertory Theatre has announced its 30th anniversary season, consisting of six productions from October 2008-May 2009.

The season will open with The Fantasticks (October 16-November 9), the musical with a universal message, book and lyrics by Tom Jones, and music by Harvey Schmidt. David Hare’s Skylight (November 20-December 14) will follow with a young school teacher and a successful restaurateur who reunite at a crossroads after years of separation. Next, the regional premiere of A View of the Harbor (January 8 – February 1) by Richard Dresser is the finale of the playwright’s trilogy on happiness in America.

The season continues with Bob Clyman’s Tranced (February 12 – March 8), which follows a hypnotherapist who uncovers an earth-shattering travesty during sessions with an African graduate student patient. Bad Dates by Theresa Rebeck, March 19 – April 12, is a comedy about Haley, her teenage daughter, her stressful job, her Romanian mob boss, and her 500 pairs of shoes. The season will close with Eugene O’Neill A Moon for the Misbegotten (April 23-May 17), which takes a stark look at humanity in its basest and loveliest forms.
