Lee Blessing, Jim Brochu, John Rando, Mark St. Germain, et al. Set for Barrington Stage Company’s 2011 Season

Barrington Stage Company has announced its complete mainstage season for 2011.

As previously announced, the company’s season will open with Frank Loesser and Abe Burrows’ Guys and Dolls. John Rando will direct this music fable about the shadier side of a bygone New York City, which will run June 21-July 16. Joshua Bergasse will choreograph the production, which will have music direction by Darren R. Cohen.

Along with this production, and the previously reported musical The Game (August 11-28), the Barrington’s mainstage season will include Mark St. Germain’s The Best of Enemies (July 21-August 6). Julianne Boyd will direct this piece that is based on the a true story about the relationship between C.P. Ellis (a Grand Cyclops of the KKK) and Ann Atwater (a civil rights black activist) during the desegregation of the Durham, NC schools in 1971.

The company has also announced two of the pieces that will be presented on its smaller Stage 2. Jim Brochu’s one-man portrait of Zero Mostel, Zero Hour, will play the venue, May 18 – June 5. Also scheduled for the space is Lee Blessing’s look at two women who find their lives surprisingly intersecting: Going to St. Ives. Tyler Marchant will direct the production, which will run June 16 – July 3.

The company has also announced that its Youth Theatre production will be All Shook Up. It plans to announced the pieces that will be part of its Musical Theatre Lab’s 6th season in February.
