Leonard Bernstein's Candide to Receive Recital at Olney Theatre Center

Sam Ludwig, Christopher Bloch, Rhett Guter, and more will star in this concert performance to celebrate the theater’s 80th birthday.

The Olney Theatre Center has announced that, to celebrate both its 80th birthday and Leonard Bernstein's centennial, it will present a one-night-only concert recital of Bernstein's Candide at the Mainstage on Saturday, July 28. The musical will be presented in a two-piano arrangement performed by Doug Lawler and the production's director, associate artistic director Christopher Youstra.

Sam Ludwig (Candide), Suzanne Lane (Cunegonde), Christopher Bloch (Voltaire, Pangloss), Donna Migliaccio (Old Woman), Rhett Guter (Max), and Rachel Zampelli (Paquette) will star. The rest of the ensemble will include Ronald Bruce, Ian Anthony Coleman, Jennifer Flohr, Jeff Higgins, Amanda Kaplan, Ashleigh King, Emily Madden, Robert Mintz, Alan Naylor, Claire Rathbun, Connor James Reilly, Ron Tal, Shawna Walker and Taylor J. Washington.

This performance of Candide will be the capstone event of Olney Theatre Center's SummerFest, which takes place all day Saturday, July 28.
