The Creation of the World and other Business
Arthur Miller’s tongue-in-cheek account of the book of Genesis features a familiar cast from the beginning of the world. God battles Satan, Adam battles Eve, and Cain and Abel try to figure it all out while struggling with sibling rivalry. Originally produced on Broadway in 1972 to indifferent notices and doomed to a short run, the intervening 1/3rd of a century, complete with moral majorities and focusing on families, has brought a new perspective to Miller’s script. Satirical, whimsical, and ironically funny, this prescient comedy is becoming a tour de force by one of America’s leading dramatists. Might include nudity – at least until they eat the apple.
