About This Show

Celebrated playwright Caryl Churchill’s Obie Award winning play, Cloud 9, confronts colonial and sexual repression with a gender-bent, farcical cast of characters who span 100 years while only aging 25. Cross-casting over both sexual and racial lines, society’s expectations and stereotypes are brought into sharp focus as the characters struggle to fit their assigned roles in the British colony of Act I’s Victorian Africa. In ACT II, set in modern day London, the characters have started to claim their identities as they endeavor to find themselves in the ever-changing society we live in.
