New York City
A regular Casanova with tavern wenches and servant girls, Charles Marlow clams up around women of refinement. This proves to be a prolbme when he meets his intended, the lovely Kate Hardcastle. It doesn’t help matters that Charles mistakes his future father-in-law for an innkeeper, and that the oafish Tony Lumpkin is running interference at every twist of the plot. The marriage bets are off unless Kate puts on a barmaid’s apron to improve the odds in Oliver Goldsmith’s sparkling comedy of manners.
