Shakespeare’s Skum specializes in turning William Shakespeare’s most popular tragedies into one act comedies. Last year, they sold out their shows at the Comedy Spot, and this year they threaten to do the same with Leave it to Hamlet, Richard III: Just Misunderstood and the Skum crowd pleaser, Macbeth in Twenty Minutes or Less. In this latest offering, Hamlet is a mix between Jerry Mathers and an Emo Kid, Richard III wasn’t loved enough as a child and Ophelia makes Jessica Simpson look like a Rhodes Scholar. Needless to say, you don’t need to be a Shakespeare afficionado to enjoy a Skum show – but folio fans will appreciate Skums’s unique twists on the classics.
No Performance Friday, November 17th.
