About This Show

I Have Before Me a Remarkable Document Given to Me by Young Lady from Rwanda tells the story of Juliette, a young survivor of the Rwanda massacre, living in London, striving to establish a new life. While struggling to write about her country’s experience of genocide, she seeks the help of Simon, a writer/teacher who works at a local refugee center. Together, they make many surprising discoveries about life, hope and the healing power of art.

The play’s inspired by the real life experiences of refugees British playwright Sonja Linden encountered in London at the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture where she is writer-in-residence. The production was presented at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland in 2004.
