About This Show
“Artists of The District” is an improvised comedy performance that centers Kara Morillo and Adrian Gaston Garcia, a pair of BIPOC DC-based artists. They will take suggestions from the audience, inspiring them to share true stories from their life and work. Then, using those stories as jumping-off points, a diverse cast of comedians will create a fully improvised comedy set.
Adrian Gaston Garcia is a storyteller whose poetry has been featured at venues across DC. Kara Morillo is a comedian, storyteller, and educator who has a PhD in English Language and Literature.
The show’s improvisers are Erick Acuña, Neil Baron, Darnell Eaton, Rosie Grant, Jordana Mishory, Jamal Newman, Kelsey Peters, and Martin Steger. They are improvisers and comedy instructors associated with Washington Improv Theater and other performing-arts organizations. Their collective festival credits include appearances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and New York Musical Improv Festival.
