Almost Blue

A small band of misfits, thrown together in one man’s shabby rooming-house apartment, makes desperate swipes at connection. At the center of the action is Phil, an ex-con grappling with his fall from grace. As the play begins, Phil’s only human contact is his neighbor, Blue. Blue is an effete man who writes cheap erotica. A woman named Liz arrives at Phil’s apartment and claims she is his former cellmate, Steve’s, ex-wife. She tells Phil that Steve is dead and then seduces him. Steve appears at the apartment next, demanding that Phil kill Liz. Tension mounts towards the final moments of the play, which are surprising and inevitable at once.
