You Can’t Take It With You

At first the Sycamores seem mad, but it is not long before you realize that if they are mad, the rest of the world is madder. In contrast to these delightful people are the unhappy Kirby’s. The plot: Tony Kirby, young and attractive, falls in love with Alice Sycamore who brings his parents to dine at the Sycamore home on the wrong evening. The Kirby’s are shocked. The Sycamores are sympathetic. Others include: an ex-Grand Duchess, earning her living as a waitress; members of the household engaged in the manufacture of fireworks; one running a printing press in the living room; the maid and her friend; a Russian dancer; a painter; a xylophone player; Grandpa’s interview with the tax collector when he tells him he doesn’t believe in the income tax.
