Underground Performing Arts Collective presents Reader’s Theater: Noir Espionage, a powerful multimedia stage production written by Roberta Lea Halmond-Walters.
Noir Espionage shines a spotlight on the brilliant Black spies, strategists, and freedom fighters whose courage helped influence the outcome of the Civil War. Through theater, music, step, spoken word, and historical storytelling, the production follows figures such as Harriet Tubman, Mary Bowser, Mary Louvestre, Robert Smalls, and Nat Turner as they risk everything to outsmart oppression from within enemy lines.
Through coded messages and daring acts of resistance, Noir Espionage reclaims overlooked chapters of American history and celebrates the intelligence, sacrifice, and resilience of those who fought for freedom.
