Join The Elks Performing Arts Center and world class Taiko Drummer Ken Koshio for two workshops where Ken will focus on the basics of playing Taiko under the theme of finding your rhythm. Since ancient times, Taiko rhythms set the heartbeat in motion, expressing the melodies and pulse of mother earth.
The Taiko workshops will take place in the Crystal Hall on the 3rd floor of the Performing Arts Center on Saturday, October 17th at 9:00am and 11:00am. Workshop size will be limited!
Be Sure to Select Which Workshop Time You Prefer!
During the workshop a brief history of Taiko is presented, and participants will learn a song based fundamental stance, rhythms, and technique. Learn about the principle ideas on Taiko, explore your sound and listen to your heartbeats. No Taiko experience is necessary.
Ken brings all of the drums and guides you through a truly energizing workout for your body and soul.
Ken realized that he had a dream to open a Dojo. The Wakondan Dojo is not just a simple school for learning drumming, songs and posture but also learning another form of Do learning and starting to understand the real philosophy of Do, the harmonizing of nature with the entire body's movement and communication through its soul. Wakondan Dojo is the bridge of all cultures sharing goodness with us and being an inspiration and influence to each other.
