New York City
Thomas Babe’s Taken in Marriage is about the forthcoming wedding of Annie and Henry. Everyone is excited about their approaching union, well, maybe not everyone. The bride is experiencing second thoughts and a nervous stomach. Her sister, who has been divorced five times, would be happy to never see another wedding. Their mother resents being dragged from New York City to rural New Hampshire to see her daughter marry what’s-his-name. And then there’s Aunt Helen who has her own unique view of the state of holy wedlock. When the women arrive for the wedding rehearsal, they encounter Dixie, a professional entertainer hired by one of the men (who are currently off at a local bar) to sing at the wedding. Will there be a rehearsal? Will there be a wedding? Will Dixie ever get paid for this gig? You’re cordially invited to find out. Robert Bauer directs.
