The Mayphair Theatre Company, Philadelphia’s newest professional theatre, debuts with a production of Paula Vogel’s Pulitzer Prize-winning drama How I Learned to Drive.
Winner of the 1998 Pulitzer Prize, an Obie, and the Drama Desk and New York Drama Critics Circle Awards, Paula Vogel’s emotionally complex memory play is about the love between a teenage girl and her uncle. Peck held Li’l Bit in the palm of his hand when she was born, but during her teenage years, he became her best friend, her father, her drinking buddy, her driving teacher — and her lover.
