About This Show

Comic Energy Sketch Comedy Troupe, based in South Philadelphia, performs Comic Energy Does America, June 29th thru July 2nd at the Shubin Theatre.

The show takes a look at the history of America with Comic Energy’s take on some of the more important events during the birth of America, the transformation of America and some highlights through history that Comic Energy tabs as noteworthy.

A typical ingredient at any Comic Energy show would be the most unexpected ending to many of their sketches, as C.E. goes where you wouldn’t expect them to go. This has paralleled them to the likeness of comedy giant “Second City” of Chicago.

The troupe is led by James Daly a veteran performer and former Phillies Dancing Usher and features an array of local and talented performers, whose eyes are clearly on one goal — putting Philly on television.

Comic Energy has started filming their pilot episode for a television distributor based in Florida and they exhibit a confidence that this show not only can work but will work.

This show features a different look at Benjamin Franklin’s discovery of electricity, the Declaration of Independence, the Boston Tea Party, and much, much more.

“Our show starts with pre-America and exhibits in the very beginning what we believe fueled our nation’s forefathers to standup against the British and start this great nation”, says Daly.

Producing a comedy show about America can be a touchy a subject to hit, but Comic Energy does it light-heartily and makes you laugh at the same time.

The story starts with the Boston Tea Party and takes us into the future of America where our president in 2020 is…well Comic Energy won’t reveal it just yet, but it would seem to be out in left field.
