New York City
The hottest tango company in Buenos Aires, Estampas Porteñas, takes audiences on a journey from the red light district to the glamour of the Roaring ’20s in the North American debut of their sizzling show, Tango Fire.
Tango Fire features passionate dancers, Quatrotengo – a quartet of brilliant young musicians featuring a pianist, bandoneon player, double bassist, and violinist – and a vocalist celebrating the music of the legendary Astor Piazzolla. It traces the history of tango from its origins in the brothels and taverns in turn-of-the-century Buenos Aires through its evolution into one of the most alluring and exciting dances in the contemporary ballroom. Easily recognized in its complexity, passion, and precision, the tango is enjoying a renaissance in ballroom classes and on stages around the world.
Tango Fire is presented as part of CAPA’s Caliente Series.
