Lucy Maud Montgomery¹s beloved children¹s book Anne of Green Gables comes to life in the new musical Green Gables, by a Cincinnati-based writing team. The Human Race Theatre Company presents this musical as part of the Musical Theatre Workshop series. Taking place on Prince Edward Island, the Cuthberts, who want to adopt an orphan boy, are an elderly brother and sister on a farm. An error is made at the orphanage, and they instead become the foster parents of a precocious, high-spirited girl, Anne Shirley. Through a series of comic misadventures, Anne and the Cuthberts learn to accept and love one another.
