Rapture

Set in 17th century Bologna and based on the life of Lucrezia Vizzana, Jeanne Marshall’s Rapture is the heartbreaking story of an extraordinarily talented composer who, as a child, is sent to live in a convent. Her aunts, nuns in the same convent, encourage her musical gifts, breaking the Vatican’s rules by finding a male instructor to teach her. When they are discovered, Lucrezia’s music and her family become pawns in a political struggle for control of the convent.
