About This Show

Miss Julie is August Strindberg’s elegiac battle of the sexes concerning a lonely woman of means (Miss Julie) and her scheming, lower class footman, Jean, who is married to another of the household workers. On a night of celebration in their community, Miss Julie seduces Jean — or does he seduce her? Her goal: to get away from a life of trivia and restrictions. His goal: to move up in the world, to better himself. But can either really answer the other’s need? As the night wears on, the claws are sharpened and the fight for their souls begins. This new English language adaptation was written by two recent Vassar College graduates, Kelsey Egan and Jack Lienke, is short, sharp and shocking in the extreme.
